Haywire’s Capsule Collection MARINE is the first of a three part series inspired by the ocean and its surroundings. It touches the context of not only the sea’s environment, but also some of the problematic aspects concerning the preservation of its fragile balance and ecosystem.
These beautiful pieces evoke the structure of fishing nets. Glistening in the water, fishing nets are a dual symbol, on the one hand they provide nourishment to us as humans by enabling us to catch fish. On the other, they are also a threat to many of the fish living in the ocean’s ecosystem, and in this sense they are a truly ambiguous object.
Touching again on the slight balance between freedom and restraint or captivity, this theme is once again explored in this first part of the MARINE series.
The name MARINE, comes from the designer’s father Marino. A typical Istrian name it translates to “he who comes from the sea”.
